Vientiane
Unlike other capitals of Southeast Asia, Vientiane is not 24 / 7 frenzy of trading. The relaxed atmosphere makes it like a small town that is a kind of sense, because that is exactly what it is.
If there was a "softer Capital of the World" competition Vientiane would win hands down. Backpackers get drunk in the south and the river, the village of Vang Vieng skirts. The most sophisticated travelers zero in Laos luxury 'Capital of Vientiane, in a rule before a visit to Luang Prabang. Unusually for a capital, Vientiane is little more than a limit - that Thailand, just across the bridge of friendship. The influence that shines more brightly, however, is French. First, the name is gallicised. The original name was found, Viangchan, which means "City of the Moon" in the native Lao language, too complicated for the French language.
Expect French food, flowers, French (Tagetes), including the Arc de Triomphe -Well, a monstrous concrete mock-up, known as the Arch of Victory. Nicknamed the vertical track because it was built with concrete donated by the United States in 1969 for airport construction, the arch is a bit 'larger than the original, to appease the French, but not finished. A sign is this turbulent history of Laos, presumably for the punishment inflicted by the French, Japanese, Chinese, Burmese, Vietnamese, Thai and American. But all this was a little 'back. Even the characters are recognizableshortcomings of the monument and called it "a monster of concrete." No to shoot here. Cynics might ask why the communist state landlocked their act together, and not yet finish the job. The decline, which represents the arc extends to the streets, so be careful not step into a hole or drainage.
Attention, even the tuk-tuk driver, as enterprising as to meet every six in Asia. Always set a price and to clarify before jumping to your goal, otherwise, expectto be taken to the wrong side of town rather Kip - not enough money worthless - how to treat coughs. The ideal solution for a white knuckle ride tuk-tuk is a session in one of the many excellent spas and dirt cheap Vientiane. For a lot of experience with a massage Kip much less brutal than that kind of embarrassment Thai boxer imposed - and the mood in much of the surrounding area.
Blessed with bags of style and Indochina with the most cheerful residents,Vientiane combines Gallic flair with Asian mysticism. This style also influences and permeates the flavors of sauces and good food in the restaurants of world-class French Fountain Square. For those travelers who are tired of sweet and sickly white wheat are falsely posing as the "bread" in almost all of Southeast Asia, breakfast lunch baguettes and croissants are available in most parts of Laos is a most welcome change to be done.
The alternative diningFountain Square is the Mekong. His bank is close to dozens of cheaper but still good Asian restaurants, where guests lounge on mats lined up and watch the sunset over the river and the Lao beer, standards and great condition. If you manage to culinary attractions of Vientiane, then maybe you visit the Lao National History Museum. On the main road, it sounds and looks boring, but the life of his chauvinistic jargon of anger brought against the intruder. CheckPhotos of the farmers and the exhibition of sniper weapons bulky. "Weapons, ordered by the U.S. imperialists for their dolls," screams a caption.
If your spine is the bone-shaking ride 24 km handle, then take a trip from Vientiane to the area, perhaps the most memorable attraction is the memory card symbol complex, the Buddha Park sculpture garden. There, at crazy angles, cement giant statues of Buddhist and Hindu gods jostle tip with fantastic images of animals both real and imaginary. L 'Another highlight is the three-story giant pumpkin-like representation of hell, heaven and earth, which is determined from the jaws of a demon's head entered. More than religious kitsch, but a fun day. Apparently designed by Salvador Dali, and astonished at his eyeballs, dates back to 1958 and Buddha Park owes its existence to the visionary mystic Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat that Laos, after capturing the 1975 communist left. The park cuts a contrast to the golden temple and the beautiful city that Stickmore rules, but as the Buddha Park, have a bit 'shocking to hear about them.
While these attractions to visit, Vientiane lacks truly monumental and instead captures the senses with its quiet, unique charm. It 's a place to eat, people watch, relax, massage, maybe visit one of the respectable nightclub. Vientiane lacks vitality, but for so many visitors with enough energy problems in their daily lives, which is exactly what the doctorordered.
